2007 Artists

These were our featured artists for last year's event on September 15, 2007.

RESCUE
RESCUE is drawing in listeners of all ages. Their sound is described as fresh and exciting, as they have developed their own captivating style that brings listeners into an entertaining and worshipful arena. Influences include the well-known Take 6, Rockapella, and A cappella. With the doors that the Lord is continuing to open, RESCUE is looking to take their music to every corner of the globe.

Andrea Wellard
Andrea was never one to settle for normal, both in life and in music. Early in her musical explorations, she was constantly exploring new ways to express herself through music. She was not one to be content with just a little talent, but like the good servant of the parable, she quickly turned her talent into many talents. For someone so young, she's already come a long way in her musical journey.

Tray Michaels
Tray was Born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Warrenton, a small costal town. Tray grew up in a Christian home and experienced the awesome power of God at the age 16 during a mission trip with Teen Mania. It forever changed his life. After graduating high school in 1994 he joined the Teen Mania Internship program. He toured with Acquire the Fire youth convention for a year performing his musical talents and ministering to thousands of youth. In 1996 he was asked to join a ministry called Big World Venture and toured the US presenting the gospel through drama and music. In 1998, he returned from Oklahoma to lead worship for two years at his home church, Philadelphia in Warrenton, Oregon.

KATE WHITE & TABLE ROCK ROAD
Kate is a concert artist, worship leader, songwriter and violinist.  She grew up in a musical family, where she studied classically, but also played fiddle and sang in her family bluegrass band.  Kate’s songs are very much a reflection of her life experiences with God.  In sharing about her music, Kate says, “I believe God is calling me to write songs of faith, humility, honesty and surrender.  God has done such a healing and grace-filled work in my life!  I am learning that my walk with Him is about the journey / wrestling we do with God along the way.  It’s my heart to write from an honest place.  I pray that these songs would reflect this process and touch the human heart, lifting it longingly to God."

Holding Out
Holding Out is a passionate group with the drive to spend their lives doing what they love...rocking out.  They are as versatile as their influences, playing both originals and covers that range in style from blues/rock to hip hop.  At every gig they showcase their colorful personality and style on well-loved covers and classics, giving them a fresh twist as only Holding Out could. Holding Out is a five-piece band of electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, piano, and drums with an emphasis on superb vocals.

XILE
Hip Hop music has yet to hear such a determined, compassionate truth bearing, real artist who delivers not only some of the most profound lyrics of our time but an album that from start to finish will satisfy all sub cultures of the Hip Hop world. His mission has always been to present that tomorrow is not guaranteed and now more than ever he wants to ensure we live like today is all we have! He is a born leader, not conforming to the patterns of this world but an individual who truly has made it his life mission to breed change! He often appears at community functions, non profit organizations, clubs and youth venues. He is a trailblazer by definition and his live appearances and recorded music is guaranteed to satisfy as the universal language for the broken soul.

We As Human
We As Human We As Human began in the summer of 2001 as a young & raw 5 member rock band which has since developed into an all out, no holds barred, adrenaline packed musical experience. It is next to impossible to leave one of their shows without having been slung with their Christ affirming lyrics and a hope that radiates Gods grace at every musical turn.  It is apparent that their one adamant goal is that of reaching out and trying to grab those who have been in the shadows waiting for the hope that is found only in Jesus Christ. And they will make sure no one ever leaves their shows without knowing that.

SoulP
Behind everything we have lies the soul. Our souls are often regarded as intangible forces that control our thoughts and actions as nothing else can. When we shape our souls, we shape our lives. So how do you contain that power with the medium of hip-hop? Look no further, because a man with a true grasp of soul is in the building.
Straight out of Portland comes Soul P., an emcee who is destined to change the way you view the art form of hip-hop. Born and raised in Seattle, Soul P. has been through the struggle and is ready to share his story with the world. Growing up in The Yesler Terrace neighborhood, Soul P. came face-to-face with the harsh realities of the streets at an early age. Though he was surrounded by crack cocaine and gang warfare, Soul P. persevered with the help of God and came out even stronger than before.

Emily Crawford
Emily Crawford has been singing her whole life, just ask anyone who knows her. Her parents will tell you that as soon as she could talk she started singing and has continued to this day. Emily was born and raised in Burbank, California where those closest to her watched her passion for music grow over the years. When she was eleven, she asked her dad to teach her to play the guitar so she could learn the praise and worship songs that she sang at youth group. Little did she know, as she held that big guitar and struggled to learn those basic chords, by her sophomore year of high school she would be leading worship for her youth group.

OVERKAST
“To over cloud, darken, or make gloomy: Ominous clouds began to overcast the sky"
This is how we feel not only just in life but many times in our Christian walk; some days it may seem like all hope is lost and maybe we should not even get out of bed. Even just living can be a hard thing as a believer. The clouds do roll in and things can get dark. The goal and passion set out for this band is to be a light in the dark places of life. We are here only to show the light and love of Christ. The Lord has called us to live a life above reproach and to tell all the world his message of good news until all have heard.

Wright Family Band
What began as the "Wright Sisters" in June 2004 at the Winlock Bluegrass Festival quickly grew into the "Wright Family Band". The family has now been performing at various venues all over the state of Washington and into Oregon. Last fall they ventured all across America on their first ever tour, performing in churches, festivals, and even for the federal government at the Blue Ridge Music Center in Galax, Virginia! Their recordings have also received air time on various radio stations across America!
The Wrights' have appeared in various publications across the nation. They were honored to be selected as one of the #1 Country Musicians and were featured in the September/October 2005 issue of Country Magazine.

MATINA HUNNELL
For as long as she can remember, Matina has had a passion for music.  She was blessed to be able to take piano lessons in her early years & always loved to sing.  In 8th grade she began exploring songwriting and by her senior year of high school, knew that's what she wanted to pursue.  Matina received her Bachelors degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music. Since graduation, she has recorded & interned at PDM Recording Studios & is currently pursuing her jazz interests by singing at local venues in Portland.  Her love for children & music has collided as she now teaches private piano lessons & leads a teen worship band.  Perhaps her favorite form of music though, is just sitting at the piano in a quiet room & singing her heart out to God.

Mike Logan
Mike has been writing songs since 1995 when he moved from New Jersey to Oregon. After coming to know Christ in April of 1999, he began incorporating Christian lyrics into his music. Mike has been married since September of 2000 and lives on Mt. Hood with his lovely wife and two terrific kids.

The Young & The Beautiful
The Young and The Beautiful, less than one year old, plays to the local Portland area doing loud sweaty rock and blues.  From vintage Larry Norman to U2, the band sets out to entertain, encourage, and wake people up.  The trio members originate from the worship team at Eastridge Church in Clackamas Oregon, Paul Rydell (formally of Art & Leo, and Mr. Peabody) on  guitar, Larry McClanahan on bass, and Jordan Chase on the drums. You've got to see them to hear them!
